Prime 8 would like to introduce you to the one and only Darla Carter. Darla was nice enough to share a little about herself and time at Prime 8.

How long have you been with Prime 8?

I have been working with Nicolette and Drew since April 2006.

What is your role at Prime 8?

Queen Bee, Fridge refiller, Snack lady.  Actually I’m the Office Manager and I love it!

Why did you join Prime 8?

I was working with Nicolette & Drew at their Café in Kirkland for 3 years, and when they sold the Café in 2010, it kind of just segued into gradually helping them with some Prime 8 work, and then as the company grew, I began to grow into the role.

What advice do you have for prospective Prime 8 candidates?

Be yourself, be prepared and be responsive!  First impressions matter.

What are 3 words to describe Prime 8?

Energetic, dedicated, passionate.

What do you like most about Prime 8?

The synergy in the home office is like working with family, really close family.   Nicolette and Drew are really invested in all of their employees and genuinely care about each and every person we hire and what is going on in their life.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

It is well with my soul“ from a favorite old hymn from years and years ago that my dad used to sing to me.  If I ever got a tattoo, which I wouldn’t, that is what it would say.

What is your favorite travel spot?

Crescent Bar, WA – a small little “resort” (I use that word very loosely) on the Columbia River near The Gorge. Our family has been going there for over 30 years every summer.

What is the first concert you attended?

I went to Aerosmith in 1977 at the Kingdome.

Where is your favorite place to eat?

Café Veloce in Kirkland, it’s our favorite Italian restaurant to go to, and I order the same thing every single time.  Quattro Formaggio Pasta!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us?

I’ve never been stung by a bee, (or bitten by a mosquito).  In fact, I’m quite intrigued with bees, so if one ever gets in our house, I will scoop it up and put It back outside. I’ve watched so many animated movies with my children and grandchildren, that I am convinced that ALL animals REALLY do talk when we aren’t looking, and I think the bee will fly off and thank me.

What is the best career advice you’ve gotten?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. I do ask a lot of questions, but I find its better to do that than to make a mistake.

What is on your Bucket list?

I would love to own a small café/coffee house/gift shop with a red door in Woodinville someday. I love to cook/bake/entertain and I loved my time at the Sharps Oriel Café in Kirkland…it was such a great experience to see regular customers day in and day out and serve them delicious food and good coffee, and watch people gather together.
