Building His Path: Abhi Sheth, Program Manager
Abhi Sheth, one of Prime 8’s highly respected Program Managers, contributes meaningful work every day in business focused operations roles with our client partners. Abhi started his career in the banking and financial services industry and transitioned to technology consulting after 10 years, attracted by a faster paced environment and the greater flexibility afforded by a remote role. In his Prime 8 career, Abhi has supported multiple clients including Microsoft Azure where he has worked for the past 3 years. One of Abhi’s favorite projects to date saw him supporting the launch of a Partner Program for FastTrack for Azure, which allowed him to see the immediate and positive impact of the program on global partners and customers through their Azure consumption.
Outside of work, Abhi enjoys spending time with his young family, watching football and basketball, and being an avid skier, is hopeful for a good snow season! We asked Abhi how he would spend a day free of responsibilities, his favorite part about Washington, and about the work life balance he enjoys at Prime 8.
Why did you decide to come to work for us? What is your favorite aspect about working for Prime 8?
A colleague in my previous job highly recommended Prime 8 as an excellent company. I knew I wanted to continue doing consulting type work and the company has been a great fit for me ever since. My favorite aspect of working at Prime 8 so far has been the experience I have gathered in supporting various clients during my time here.
How did the change from working in banking to consulting change your opportunities for career growth and flexibility?
Going from the banking industry to the technology industry has been very beneficial in my career as it has allowed me to continue to grow and learn. The constant change in technology keeps me engaged in my work and the flexibility and remote working model was an incredibly important factor for work life balance.
What has been the highlight or most interesting part of your consulting career to date? Why?
Initially, the most interesting part to consulting for me was the ability to work remotely. The fact that I could work full time, meet my client’s needs, execute on deliverables and not have to be physically present was a game changer for me and Prime 8 allowed me to do just that. A consulting career highlight for me has being able to support a client’s need in preparing them for a financial audit by documenting all their business processes, enabling my finance and consulting experience to come together.
What makes Prime 8 unique and valuable to organizations that might be considering hiring a consulting company?
The quality of the consultants speaks volumes about Prime 8 as a company. The wonderful consultants are seasoned with many years of experience and are able to complete high quality work.
When you were growing up, what was your “dream job?”
My dream job when I was growing up would have been to be an actor!
How do you define success?
The definition of success depends on what stage you are in life. For me, success is to have the opportunity to support my family and provide for my children with all the benefits and more that I received growing up.
What advice do you have for finding work life balance?
My advice would be to recognize what is important to you as an individual. You have to find out what aspects of life are valuable to you. Working in consulting, gives me the opportunity to enjoy my life and have that healthy balance. I can be there for my family by helping my wife and spending time with my kids and be there for my client and my career.
If you had a full day free, how would you spend it?
Get chores done! Honestly, I would just really like to check the things off the ‘to do’ list; I’d like to be able to clean out the garage or other around the house items.
What’s your favorite aspect about living in Washington?
Definitely all of the greenery! Washington is such a beautiful environment.
